"Irresponsibility" of the Nanny State
What else a citizen of western country need? They have everything they ask for, a government who is more loving than mother. Their intellectuals even sound more appealing than others and they have a lot of examples to prove others wrong. In a way they are right as well because the noise of peace and prosperity around them is tangible. But this noise has a silent undertone, that is the weakening of social bonding and strengthening the grip of Nanny State over the peoples' life. I disagree with the opening few lines of my article, it is not just west, it is everywhere.
The state has taken over all the aspects of our life by projecting its image as loving mother who will never abandon you or you can say "State is the only choice you have". The functions of society which should be taken care by family and community is now the responsibility of the state. So it means that the State does not want any social bonding either a family or a community to be more powerful, strong and influential than state because that is a direct threat to states' ability to control our lives and to impose its' will on us. That is why state systematically limits people to exercise their legitimate social authority on issue which are by definition either personal or his responsibility. These limitations are directly imposed through state sponsored schooling, overdose of personal rights, property laws, trade, taxation, welfare system, political system and bureaucracy.
